ABOUT HILLVIEW FARM
Hillview Farm is a small seed stock beef cattle farm located south of Syracuse, New York and owned by Allan Maxian. Beginning in 1985, Hillview Farm raised Registered Shorthorns, and in 2014 switched to raise and breed Registered Red Angus cattle based on their maternal traits, carcass quality, and adaptability.
The foundation herd of females are all stock from certified Red Angus females purchased from two herds managed by Rich Red Angus (now retired) and Tim Johnson Cattle in Iowa as well as Shepard Settlement Farm in New York. The original females were selected based on their top end genetics and maternal traits.
All of our cows are bred A.I. with bulls that reinforce their superior traits and genetics. “Clean up” bulls are also used to reinforce their superior traits. Our cows are bred for maternal excellence including calving ease, milking ability, attentive maternal instincts, and longevity.
We sell only the females for breeding by private treaty, including yearling heifers, cow-calf pairs, and bred heifers and cows. You can learn more about the herd here, and more on how to purchase our cattle here.
